Projection Design

Images on the main screen announced the show, each round, and each question and answer.

Each show had a different set of questions and answers, which called for the creation of 200 slides.

A countdown was also created for the speed round.

Two videos were also filmed and shown on the main screen. One where the host introduces the show, and another which is supposed to be a clip from a hidden camera in the bathroom.

Software Used: Premiere, Photoshop

Live Video

Two video cameras on either side of the stage served both as props "filming" the show-within-the-show, and as actual cameras sending video to the "video monitors" above the stage. This was accomplished by attaching two small, functional camcorders to the two large, ancient, non-fuctional prop cameras, with video cables running from them to the media computer. Old computer screens were hung in the air above the set to serve as the video monitors.

When the show-within-the-show was off-air, the monitors displayed a test color bars image, and when the "studio audience" was asked to applaud, applause signs flashed on the "video monitors". (This was accomplished by running the video feeds through QLab 3, which created a .25 second delay in the live video)

Sound Design

All sound effects and music for the show were purchased along with the rights, meaning that my sound design duties were limited to:

  • Programming sound & music cues, fades, and levels
  • Speaker placement & EQ for sounds and voices coming from a phone on a desk
  • Three off-stage microphones (one over the main speakers, two from the phone on the desk)
  • One lapel microphone for the host of the show
