Artistic Process
- Photo taken by Helen Muller
- Photo was sent to Caroline Holden and Dave Niccolai
- Dave and Caroline digitally cut the photo into 80 squares
- They then printed them out at 3"x3" each and cut them out individually
- Squares were delivered to me in a randomized stack (numbered on the back)
- I then used oil pastels to copy each square
- Finally, I cut the squares out, arranged them, and glued them down.
This method allowed me to draw my self portrait entirely "blind" - I had almost no idea what it would look like until the entire thing was done. It was remarkably freeing!
