Sound Reinforcement Design

Vocals

  • 16 Countryman B3 (& equivalent), 1 E6 mic elements (mounting methods: elastic halos, threaded through hair)
  • 10 Shure ULX, 6 Shure SLX, 1 Sennheiser wireless receivers/transmitters
  • Behringer X32 (with about 30 programmed DCA scenes) for vocal mics
  • Central 2-speaker cluster for vocal reinforcement
  • Reverb effect used for a vocal effect in one scene

Band

  • 12-person band backstage right
  • 4 DIs (2 keyboards, bass, electric guitar/acoustic guitar)
  • 12 mics (2 clarinets/saxophones, 2 flutes, trumpet (1 mic shared between two people), trombone, vibraphone, aux percussion, 2 overhead drums, snare drum, kick drum)
  • 16 channels (17-32) on sound board for mixing band
  • 2 speakers in band boxes on either side of stage for band

All AV Monitors

  • 2 small speakers downstage on sides (as band monitors for actors)
  • small speaker in band (as vocal monitor)

Sound Effects

There were some simple sound effects in the show.

Recorded and live gunshots were both used in the show, depending on the gravity the sound was meant to convey.

This sound was played from a speaker in the catwalks, to give the impression the cheering was coming from the balcony.
