Sound Effects

Door Sound

There was an off-stage door which characters opened and closed many times throughout the show. Various found sounds were combined to create a variety of sounds for these moments.

Ambience

The show was set in a New York City apartment, and sound of traffic were used to underscore most of the play. Two different rain sounds were combined when it was raining.

Other Specific Sound Effects

One of several thunder sounds used, for transitions and specific moments in the play.

This sound starts off the play, emphasizing the obnoxious traffic sounds of the city.

Played when a character burns a book in a bucket to end a scene.

A character puts some dishes away offstage.

I loved how this sound worked together with the rain sound.

QLab 3 Programming

There were many fades in the ambient sound with extremely long fade times. This was so that as the scene got going, the sounds would gradually become less noticeable, and then, as the scene neared an end they would gradually become noticeable again.
